Selja assures fund for cultural hall in each district
NEW DELHI, Sept 04: A couple of days after reiterating his commitment to work for preservation and promotion of indigenous culture and traditions of the state during Solung celebrations on September 1, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today called on Kumari Selja, the Union Minister for Culture, who also holds the portfolio of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation ministry, and sought Center’s assistance to fulfill it.
Asserting the need to initiate concrete steps to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of various tribes of the state, Tuki said that the Government has to take the lead in this regard, especially in view of the rapidly changing world scenario.
Responding affirmatively, the Union Minister appreciated the concern expressed by Tuki and assured all cooperation from her Ministry. She accepted in principle to allocate funds for construction of cultural halls in every district headquarters of the state.
When highlighted by Tuki that Arunachal Pradesh is a distinct state with so many tribes, each celebrating their own indigenous festivals round the year, Kumari Selja offered to provide grants to facilitate the celebrations. Once the assurance is fulfilled grants would be provided to the state government for celebration of festivals of each and every tribe of the state.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reiterated his appeal to the Union Ministry of Culture for bringing the Buddha’s Relic from the National Museum to Arunachal Pradesh in the month of November next when the Buddhists of the state would be celebrating the 2600 years of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Tourism Minister Pema Khandu and Parliamentary Secretaries Padi Richo and Nido Pavitra.
NTPC awaits Arunachal govt nod for Rs 1 lakh cr power project
As per its policy, the state government is believed to have asked NTPC to make an upfront payment of about Rs 400 crore for setting up the project.

As per its policy, the state government is believed to have asked NTPC to make an upfront payment of about Rs 400 crore for setting up the project.
"We have to sort out various matters. The state government has to sort out a lot of things like land, environment, etc," NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury told reporters here.
According to sources, the state government is asking NTPC to make an upfront payment of about Rs 4,00,000 per megawatt before starting work on the project.
The company had evinced interest in setting up a 9,750 MW hydel project at Siang in Arunachal Pradesh at an investment of about Rs 1 lakh crore.
The proposed Rs 1 lakh crore investment for the project is to be spread over 10 years or the construction time of the project. Around Rs 10 crore is incurred for producing one megawatt of hydro power.
Former Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had written to the Arunachal Pradesh government for allowing NTPC to execute this project in the State.

The incident evoked massive public outcry in Ruksin and Nari area as various sections of local people blamed the police for neglecting investigation of the case. They set the police a deadline of 30 days to nab the culprits, which expired yesterday. The victim’s family men, who are in a tizzy condition, are hopefully staring at the future course of action initiated by the local organizations.
On the other hand, Ruksin police reportedly passed message to various police stations in Assam and other NE states informing about the incident and the suspects involved with the murder. Forum reiterates its stand, threatens stir
ITANAGAR, Sept 04: Reiterating its resentment over the decision to change Greenfield Airport construction site from Karsingsa to Hollongi, the Banderdewa Circle Intellectual Forum (BCIF) today declared that it would fight till the state government reconsiders its decision.
BCIF President Yurum Nillo in a press conference held here today while referring to Hollongi as sensitive interstate boundary area blamed state government of playing spoilsport in the issue. “After all the official procedures were done, its construction should have been now started. Why is it that the site has been changed now to Hollongi which also has the presence of many Chakma and Hajong refugees which makes it all the more dangerous?,” questioned Nillo.
“As it is the fourth time now that the site is being changed, we doubt if it will ever be built,” he lamented.
He further added, “Karsingsa also had been the choice of Airport Authority of India (AAI) way back in the year 2006 when the site was approved and now also as claimed by the state government on August 30. If it is the case, we want to know if AAI is divided.”
BCIF General Secretary Kipa Taniang while informing that the state government had given Rs. One crore to AAI for conducting “Detailed Techno Economic Feasibility Study and preparation of DPR” for the Karsingsa site said, “the state government has invested so much for the site, the whole process will have to be repeated for the site at Hollongi. Who will then refund the investment that has been done so far for the Karsingsa site?”
The Forum further appealed all the CM, Cabinet members, MLAs and all the organization to support the issue. Taniang further said that the forum will organize phase wise bandh call till the state government reconsiders its decision.

Bomdila, Sept 04: The stalemate between Hrusso (Aka) and Nyishi communities in West Kameng district came to a logical conclusion at the historic Bomdila convention held Tuesday at Govt Hr Secondary School Auditorium hall here after 23 days.

Wancho chiefs urged to maintain unity
KHONSA, Sept 04: Parliamentary Secretary, IPR Thangwang Wangham, called upon all the chiefs to maintain unity and perform their duties honestly and sincerely.
Addressing a meeting of all the Wancho chiefs at Longding today, Thangwang Wangham, who is the Chief of Niausa, highlighted the history of the Wanchos and said that the institution of Chiefs had always played a vital role in running the administration of the village. The local villagers are infuriated at the lackadaisical attitude of the PWD officials and demanded the district administration for proper inquiry into the matter. They alleged that the department officials have misappropriated huge amount of fund in the name of construction of Log Bridge.
“Our PR leaders earlier sought proper inquiry to trace out those involved with the bridge caving incident, but not fruited .We are demanding the district administration to conduct ground inquiry over the alleged misappropriation of money by the PWD officials”, said some sufferers of Ngorlung village.

Aalo, Sept 04: A Free Vocational training on Beauty Culture and Hair Dressing was organized by Topu Ete (Bsr) in collaboration with department of Industry at DIC Aalo yesterday sponsored by the Director General of Employment and Training Ministry of Labour and Employment, New Delhi.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner, Marnya Ete, who also present, said that such awareness camp on skill development will not only benefit the unemployed youths to earn a decent living but also contribute to nation’s economy. Government jobs are hard to come by these days and self employment generation schemes should be taken up by the unemployed youth, Ete said and appreciated the efforts put in by Topu Ete for doing such social work for the benefit of the state and nation as whole.

He expressed the hope that the occasion will inspire each and everyone to rededicate oneself towards nation building through education and to follow the high moral and ethical values espoused by Dr. Radhakrishnan.
Emphasizing that a teacher affects eternity as he or she continues to influence all throughout the life, the Governor reiterated his call to the teachers to inculcate knowledge values and discipline amongst the student community and also to be their role models.
“This is the day to pay our respects and tributes to the valuable contribution made by teachers to the society by imparting knowledge and enlightening and shaping the career of students,” said Tuki in his message this evening. ITANAGAR, Sept 04: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh General (Retd) J.J. Singh called on the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde at New Delhi yesterday and congratulated Shinde, who recently took over the charge as Home Minister.

‘Handling of Cash and Accounts’ training begins

Altogether, 29 officials of Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat, Head of Departments are attending the training.
In his brief inaugural function, Training director Pema Tshetan said cash and accounts subjects are two important pillars of Govt financial management and functions. Therefore, the officials and officers handling Govt cash and accounts matters should be highly trained and equipped with the fair knowledge and skill about the correct and meticulous application of relevant financial rules, guidelines and norms, he said.
Deputy director, (Training) T Lodo and Assistant director (Training) and Course coordinator Prescilla Tayeng also spoke on the occasion.
Minister, orgs mourn ZPM’s death
ITANAGAR, Sept 04: Power and Rural Development Minister Tanga Byaling today mourned the demise of Gusar Circle Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) Pakde Uli, who died in a road accident at Chiputa near Doimukh on Sunday. Late Uli was also former Upper Subansiri district Youth Congress president.
Expressing deep shock, Byaling said that Uli’s service to entire district and its people will be remembered.
Meanwhile Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress, All Upper Subansiri Contractors Welfare Association and Tagin Welfare Society Itanagar also condoled the death of Panchayat leader. In their condolence messages to aggrieved family the organizations termed the death as irreparable loss to family and the society.
Initiation Day organized at Don Bosco College
ITANAGAR, Sept 04: The Don Bosco College, Itanagar National Service Scheme (NSS) unit today organized Initiation Day of its NSS unit with much fanfare.
Speaking on occasion Dr. V.N Sharma called upon the NSS volunteers and students to dedicate their time in service of society alongwith the study. He also said that youths need to play vital role in the state developmental process.

Social Service conducted at Daporijo
Daporijo, Sept 04: Siyum Circle Students’ Union, in collaboration with the Urban Development department, conducted a mass social service/cleanliness drive in Daporijo town on September one with the aim to prevent spread of diseases by maintaining cleanliness and personal hygienic.

ITANAGAR, Sept 4: Solung is the most important of all festivals of Adi community and it is the identity of the community said Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Lombo Tayeng while addressing the Solung celebration at Mebo organized by All Mebo Students’ Union.
Extending his Solung greetings to the people, Tayeng advised the gathering to preserve own tradition and culture and added that certain modifications need to be included in the Solung celebration to make it more colorful.

School Aalo, attended by the Principal, HoDs, Public leaders, senior citizens and representatives from teachers from various schools was held under the chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete recently to take stock of school and hostel discipline and assess various development activities of the school.
Presiding over the function, the DC said that the school has its reputation to produce many a luminaries in the past and the image of the school needs to be kept intact. Growing indiscipline among the students everywhere is a cause of concern and it needs to be addressed in a focused manner by the school authority and all right thinking people. Effort should be made to inculcate discipline, duty and punctuality among students to improve the educational scenario of the district, he said.
